Cantor Gad Lewis
Cantor Gad Lewis has dedicated more than five decades to preserving and teaching the rich heritage of Coptic Orthodox hymns.
His journey began in 1972, when, at just 15 years old, he joined the St. Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt. After graduating in 1979, he immediately began teaching at the institute. Over the years, his responsibilities grew, and he was eventually entrusted with teaching the advanced fifth and sixth year hymn curricula, a ministry he continues faithfully to this day.
Known for his accuracy and commitment to preserving hymns as they were received, Cantor Gad earned the confidence of the late Cantor Farag Abdelmessih, who praised him for teaching the hymns without alteration.
In addition to his longtime service at St. Didymus Institute, Cantor Gad teaches at the Higher Institute of Coptic Studies and has shared his knowledge through numerous churches, conferences, and extensive recorded hymn lessons, helping generations learn and preserve the authentic Coptic hymn tradition.
His service extends beyond teaching. Since 1974, he has faithfully served at St. Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church in Al Haram, Egypt, where his ministry began while he was still a student.
Through decades of teaching and service, Cantor Gad Lewis has become a respected and influential figure in Coptic hymnology, dedicating his life to passing this treasured heritage from one generation to the next.
Cantor Melad Nady
Deacon Cantor Melad Nady has dedicated more than four decades to the service, teaching, and preservation of Coptic Orthodox hymns.
His journey began in 1980 at the St. Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt, where he graduated in 1987. He began teaching at the institute immediately after graduation and continues to serve there today as the second year teacher, sharing his knowledge and experience with generations of students.
His ministry in the Church began while he was still a student at the institute. He began serving at St. Philopater Coptic Orthodox Church in Old Cairo and has remained a faithful servant there ever since.
Through his many years of teaching and service, Deacon Cantor Melad Nady has devoted himself to preserving the authentic Coptic hymn tradition and passing this treasured heritage on to future generations.
Cantor Magdy Bekheet
Cantor Magdy Bekheet graduated from the Saint Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt in 1990 and was immediately called upon to teach at the Institute.
He developed the course and curriculum for Doxologies and Deacon Responses at the Institute and taught the course to students of all years. From 1996 until 2021, Cantor Magdy took on the responsibility of Year 1 Curricula and Students. From 2021 until the present, Cantor Magdy has been responsible for the Year 3 Curricula and Students.
Cantor Magdy has served as the Cantor of several churches across Cairo; he has served as Cantor of St Mary Coptic Orthodox Church of Zamalek since the year 2000.
Cantor Elia Boules
Cantor Elia Boules graduated from the Saint Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt in 2005.
From 2000-2003, Cantor Elia was appointed as Cantor of Saint George Church in Al Manial. From 2003-2022, Cantor Elia was appointed as Cantor of Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Azbakeya, Cairo, Egypt.
Cantor Elia currently serves as the Cantor and teacher of St Shenouda and St Karas Coptic Orthodox Church in Uxbridge, MA.
Cantor Bola Mounir
Cantor Bola Mounir graduated from the Saint Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt in 2007.
Cantor Bola serves as the Cantor and teacher of the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Anthony in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt.
Cantor Abanoub Nasfy
Cantor Abanoub Nasfy graduated from the Saint Didymus Institute for Cantors in Cairo, Egypt in 2017.
He served as the Cantor for several churches in Alexandria and teacher in the Aripsalin Institute for Cantors in Alexandria from 2018 to 2022.
Cantor Abanoub currently serves as the Cantor and teacher of St Mary and St Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church in Fall River, MA.
